I desire to seek God’s favor and discover the steps I can take to encourage His favor. I’m on a journey and you are welcome to join me in this journey.
Have you been in the valley of dry and drier? Where you feel dry and nothing satisfies? I’m having that dry time, as if I’m in the dusty desert alone, and trying to push up through the hard dirt, like a tiny flower; instead, a dry crust of dirt is on top of me. I desire to bloom where I’m planted. I probably have just enough crusty dirt on top of me to be fertile and bloom. However, I feel like something is missing in my life. I can’t seem to feel the presence of the Lord in a way that fully satisfies me, yet I know He is with me and desires to mold me, so that I bloom and yield fruit. I hope to yield the fruit of kindness, love, gentleness, goodness, patience, and self-control.
In the evening when I’m tired, I turn on the T.V. and watch the alleged news that has become entertainment, and tends to be a depressing reality of the regression of our great country. I feel drawn toward and enticed by T.V. news (see James 1:14). How can that boring tube have such a grip on me? There may be nothing wrong with watching the news on T.V., but I don’t want it to dominate my time in the evening. I feel like Apostle Paul when he called himself wretched and did the things he didn’t want to do. I would like to crowd out T.V. news time by doing something other than watching it. For me, as I watch the news, I see our national debt continue to soar. My frustration grows, while my real desire is to hear from God. Only God can tell us how to prepare for the consequences that are coming, due to the careless spending of government.
If you desire to take this journey towards God’s favor with me, the “black hole gobbling up your time” may be different from mine. You can replace the word T.V. with whatever you may be struggling with in your life, such as: feeling lonely and not connected, as you spend endless hours on Social Networking and/or spending excessive time on other computer activities, or reading worthless books that don’t inspire. Maybe you desire God’s blessing because you lost your job, or your savings are diminishing, or your health is suffering, or you just desire hope and change that is real.
I decided to learn about God’s favor mentioned in Scripture. I’m not looking for the approval from man but the favor that God speaks about in His word. More of God’s blessings! I love blessings! I’m seeking God and His favor. God is sovereign and can bestow favor on whom He pleases, but there are steps we can take to encourage His favor.
